Tools to bring ideas to life
Access to computers, the internet and creative equipment will support hands-on learning in photography, video, graphic design and digital marketing.
In Shungi, Zanzibar, we envision a place where young people can learn, create and shape their own futures.
A Creative Hub in planning. Built with the local community.
Zanzibar has a vibrant culture and a rich tradition of arts and crafts. Yet many young people lack workspaces, equipment and opportunities to develop their skills.
Zanzibar Vibrations aims to bridge this gap with a locally rooted Creative Hub that brings together learning, practical experience and shared workspaces.
A place for the community to use, shape and, over time, lead.
The project centres on young adults and creatives from Shungi, Jambiani, Makunduchi and neighbouring communities. Children and teenagers should also have early access to creative and digital activities.
Programmes will be developed step by step, guided by local needs.
Access to computers, the internet and creative equipment will support hands-on learning in photography, video, graphic design and digital marketing.
Shared workspaces, mentoring, music and cultural events will connect local creatives. Free learning and creative activities are planned for children and teenagers.
Practical projects and business skills will help participants explore self-employment and professional opportunities in crafts, tourism and the creative sector.
The infrastructure should serve the community for years to come: climate-conscious, resource-efficient and maintainable locally. Local knowledge and responsibility are part of the plan from day one.
Flexible learning and working spaces, natural ventilation and shade, and reliable water, energy and internet access are key planning goals.
Local trainers, professionals and creatives will help shape the programmes. International volunteers can contribute where their skills are requested by the community.
Income from planned co-working services, accommodation and events will help cover running and maintenance costs and support community programmes.
Zanzibar Vibrations is being developed with the local NGO Up with Community and the people who call this place home.
